Makueni County Government has completed construction of 19 classrooms in 11 Early Childhood Development Centres (ECDC) at a cost of Sh 33.34 million in 2023/2024 financial year, Executive Committee Member (ECM) for the Department of ICT, Education and Internship Elizabeth Muli has said.

Muli said that the completed classrooms were in Kwa Kyai, Makusu, Ngokolani, Katilamu, Nguluni, Mutongu, Ndivu, Mwasa Ng’ombe, Muangeni, Ndukuma and Ngunguuni centre spread across the county.

“We have finished constructing classrooms in the ECDC centres. Also we have equipped the classrooms with kiddy chairs, tables, blackboard, three door pit latrines, water tanks and done an office and store,” said Muli while speaking to KNA in her Wote office on Wednesday.

However, she further revealed that there are other 28 ongoing projects expected to cost Sh 65 million to construct 43 classrooms saying they will equip all the centres once complete.

She said that her department will ensure all ECDC learners have a conducive environment to work in besides providing quality education that meets the basic norms and standards hence employ qualified teachers to teach the minors.
