Accident
Eighteen people are recuperating at the Narok County Referral Hospital, after the vehicles they were traveling in were involved in a road accident at Siyipei area along the Narok- Maai Mahiu road. Confirming the last evening accident, Narok County Police Commander, Riko Ngare, said the accident involved a private vehicle and two matatus, one belonging to Muna Shuttle and the other to Narok Shuttle.
The Narok shuttle and the private vehicle were being driven towards Maai-Mahiu direction, while the Muna shuttle was coming from the opposite direction.
He said the Muna shuttle driver pulled to the opposite lane and hit the Narok shuttle on the right rear, and the driver of the private vehicle also pulled to the opposite lane and collided head-on with the Muna shuttle.
As a result of the accident, 18 people among them the driver of the private vehicle and Muna shuttle, sustained serious injuries, while the driver of the Narok shuttle escaped unhurt.
The patients were rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment and the ill-fated vehicles towed to the Narok Town Police Station yard, awaiting inspection.
The accident comes a week after three teenagers died in an accident at Ololulunga area along the Narok- Mulot Highway. The teenagers were riding on a motorcycle when they collided head-on with a lorry that was moving in the opposite direction.
