Fear is looming over the possible return of ethanol in the villages three months after the security arm swept clean areas of the illicit liquor. In Kaha ini village in Murang’a South sub county, 21 drums of ethanol were intercepted by police acting on a tip off.
The residents in the village claimed that last week trucks gained access into an isolated home and offloaded more than 200 drums of unknown substance. But a contingent led by deputy county commissioner Gitonga Murungi raided and managed to get only 21 drums with 5,200 litres.
Gitonga said in the compound they arrested a guard after the owner fled. ” We are hunting for the homeowner, and we advise him to surrender in the nearest police station as the manhunt has been intensified,” said Gitonga.
The neighbour said the suspect since he settled in the locality two years ago has remained a stranger.
