Classrooms
The National Government has given Sh3 million to St. Luke ACK Wote Township Primary and Junior Secondary School to construct 3 classrooms to be used by grade 9 next year, Makueni Sub County Director of Education Yophesh Magara has said.
Consequently, Magara urged the school administration to start construction immediately so that the classrooms would be ready before the assessment of exams starting this year. While urging education stakeholders to supplement government efforts, he disclosed that the Ministry of Education is committed to ensuring that learners have a conducive learning environment to improve the quality of education in the area.
“As you know, the Ministry of Education has given Sh3 million for the construction of 3 classrooms for grade 9 next year. This school has high enrollment, 3 streams and I have given you 3 months to complete the work,” said Magara during Education Day of the school.
The ground breaking for the construction of the classrooms was done today by ACK Bishop if the Diocesan of Makueni Francis Matui. On children, the Sub County Director called on parents to take care of their children during this holiday noting it was imperative to keep them busy guiding, counselling and mentoring them.
At the same time, Magara warned parents against abdicating their responsibilities of shaping and disciplining children to teachers saying they have a big role in their lives. Further, he advised children to be disciplined and discouraged them from engaging in vices like drug and substance abuse that will impact negatively on their education and lives.
Speaking at the same event, the school’s Principal Onesmus Wambua thanked the government for the monies while adding that the money was in the account noting that the tenders would be open immediately so that the works could begin. Concerning dormitories, Wambua that disclosed boys were sleeping in the dining hall and called upon stakeholders in the education sector to support them and alleviate the problem.
