Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich Foundation, alongside partners Peace Drive Initiative, Aengwo Foundation, Generous Hearts Foundation, COAD, Tenwek Hospital, and the Elgeyo Marakwet County Department of Children and Social Services, paid a compassionate visit to Kapchesewes and Nerkwo Children’s Homes yesterday.
The outreach aimed to deliver essential supplies, assess needs, and foster environmental responsibility. During the visit, the team provided food, sanitary products, and mobility aids to meet the immediate needs of the children.
Sharon Toroitich from the Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich Foundation expressed the foundation’s mission to support those in need: “Our foundation is dedicated to standing in the gap for vulnerable groups. Beyond material aid, we are here to show these children they are valued, cherished, and never forgotten.”
The team also planted trees at both homes, aligning with the foundation’s environmental conservation goals. The tree planting was more than symbolic; it represented a commitment to a greener, sustainable future for the community. A representative from Peace Drive Initiative noted, “This tree planting not only enhances the homes’ environment but also instills a sense of responsibility and care for the planet among these young residents.”
The initiative extended beyond immediate donations, as the foundation team assessed the children’s homes’ pressing needs. “Together with our partners, we are committed to making follow-up visits to ensure all identified needs are addressed,” Enock Kiplagat from the Timothy Kipchumba Toroitich Foundation confirmed.
Purity Koima, the County Executive for Sports, Gender, and Youth Affairs, who was part of the visit, spoke about the importance of such initiatives in fostering peace in regions affected by conflict. “Visiting Kapchesewes and Nerkwo reminds us of the power of love and care. Elgeyo Marakwet and surrounding counties like Baringo, West Pokot, and Samburu have faced conflicts, but initiatives like these promote peace and intellectual disarmament,” she stated.
The Peace Drive Initiative also underscored its commitment to promoting peace in counties affected by conflict, including Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot, Laikipia, Samburu, and Turkana. The visit to the children’s homes is part of a broader mission to build peace and community resilience in the region.
Reflecting on the foundation’s core mission, Sharon Toroitich concluded, “To God be the glory for the opportunity to bring hope and love to those in need. We will continue our efforts to ensure these children are supported in every possible way.”
