The County Government of Uasin Gishu targets to improve 1,600 kilometers of roads during this financial year to boost economic development.
County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Roads, Eng. Joseph Lagat said the roads improvement program will include grading of over 1,000kms and graveling of 600kms, which will mark a significant step towards enhancing the county’s infrastructure.
Eng. Lagat who was in Racecourse Ward accompanied by the area member of County Assembly, MCA, Amos Kiptanui to inspect the graveling of roads within the new Midland estate said they were working on a program to repair roads that were destroyed due to heavy rainfall.
He acknowledged that delayed funding has posed financial challenges but emphasized the county’s determination to effectively utilize available resources to ensure the progress of key infrastructure projects. In his comments, Kiptanui commended the County Roads Department and the county Governor for their continued support and dedication to delivering quality projects.
“The new roads will greatly enhance the transportation of goods and services. We ask residents to remain patient as we work through the financial challenges affecting the implementation of some projects across all county governments,” he stated. Infrastructure development for prosperity was among the pillars outlined by Governor Jonathan Bii during his campaigns.
