MOU
Uasin Gishu County Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the India-Kenya Business Council to pave the way for transformative investment and mutual development.
The MOU signed on Wednesday in Eldoret in the presence of the Indian High Commissioner Namgya Khampa and Governor Jonathan Bii opens doors for collaboration across various sectors. The MOU establishes a foundation for strengthened cooperation between Uasin Gishu County and the Indian business community, focusing on expanding trade, investment, and technological exchange.
The signing according to Governor Bii marks the beginning of a strategic alliance to foster economic growth, and job creation, and enable knowledge sharing between the two communities. “Together, we aim to position Uasin Gishu as a leading hub for investment and innovation,” said Dr Bii
The contribution of the business community has enabled the county’s gross domestic product, GDP, to grow from five percent to nine percent, added the Governor.”We have opportunities in dairy products such as hides and skins, health on the need for diagnostics, Agriculture, Tourism, sports, and Trade which we welcome you to consider,” he said as he welcomed the investors.
Dr Bii observed that the alliance will enable Uasin Gishu County to welcome new investments and establish long-term engagements to fuel sustainable development and prosperity for its residents. According to the High Commissioner, the MOU paves the way for more engagements between the county and India.
“Today’s signing is significant as it is the first with Uasin Gishu because we recognise its potential. This collaboration serves as a conduit for investment that will impact on society. It offers an opportunity for investors to take advantage of the incentives and conducive environment that Uasin Gishu has to offer, and we are ready to support it, ” she added.
