A dinner to honor and appreciate Kenyans athletes in Boston US

A special dinner in honour of Kenyan athletes in the US is taking shape, where the sportsmen will be appreciated in the eleventh edition.

The special recognition for the athletes from Kenya is slated for April 13, in Boston, with this year dedicated to mourning the life of the late Kelvin Kiptum who died as a result of a road accident.

The dinner dubbed ‘Celebrating Marathon Excellence with Champions’ will be held at the Back Bay Events Centre in Boston  organised by a Kenyan living in the US Mr  Wilson Wahome. The organisers promise to bring a level of depth and engagement that will elevate the evening proceedings in a special tribute to the late Kiptum.

The events, Wahome further explains, has been a point of tool to promote cultural diplomacy and market Kenyans heritage.A highlight of the evening will be to Kelvin Kiptum, whose promising career was tragically cut short.

Kiptum, known for his incredible talent and dedication, remains an inspiration to athletes worldwide. Wahome said the tribute is a focal point of our gathering, as we celebrate his life and legacy as  Mr Larry Rawson, will be the master of ceremonies for this year’s event.

Rawsons has insightful commentary and deep knowledge of the sports.

Wahome says it will be a night to remember as it has been a 11-year hiatus as a testament to the resilience, dedication, and spirit of marathon legends from around the globe, particularly celebrating the remarkable contributions of Kenyan athletes to the marathon world.

“In the past dinners, notable dignitaries included Kenya’s former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, who highlighted the deep connections between the marathon achievements of Kenyan athletes and their national pride,” said Wahome.

He adds that the former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has also been a guest, and who underscored the event’s significance and its role in fostering cultural and athletic exchange.

He has extended an invitation to Kenyan media in preparation to honor the legacy of Kelvin Kiptum and celebrate the enduring spirit of marathon running. “We invite the Kenyan media to join us in sharing this story of unity, resilience, and cultural celebration,” said Wahome.
