Embakasi Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino has demanded for the arrest of the police who shot and killed Rex Kanyike Masai last night along Moi Avenue in Nairobi.
Yesterday Owino said the country has gone to the dogs and called for the resignation of President Ruto for failure to lead the nation in the right direction.
He called on the youths to continue with the nationwide protests until President Ruto is out of the office.
“Ruto has been given a fiduciary duty which he has been unable to deliver. We want him to resign and leave the nation to abled people who are able to run the nation. Our nation has gone to ruins, we have no country. I urge the youths to continue until we remove Ruto from the government,” said Owino.
He said the MPs who voted yes for the Finance Bill 2024 betrayed Kenyans and willingly oppressed Kenyans. “We saw the finance bill was passed and we saw those MPs who betrayed and oppressed Kenyans. Kenyans have said they own the nation and not President Ruto,” said Owino.
Owino said they will institute private prosecution against the officer once he is paraded and identified by witnesses who saw and took pictures of him. He called on the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to also charge the officer.
“We shall institute private prosecution and want him to be identified and paraded because there were many witnesses who saw him,” said Owino. The MP also called for the resignation of Inspector General (IG) who he blamed for failing to regulate his officers.
Masai who was 29 years succumbed to bullet wounds as he was being rushed to the hospital.
in a widely speculated video, the officer donning a white cap, blue jeans and black jackets is seen chasing a group of youths and aiming his gun and shooting live bullets towards the crowd.
