Bandari FC failed to win against Posta Rangers after securing a goalless draw at Mombasa Sports Club in the FKF Kenya Premier League (KPL) match on Saturday making it their fifth consecutive match without a win.
Both sides created multiple scoring opportunities throughout the game, but failed to capitalize on them, a factor that could have significantly impacted the outcome of the match.
The draw is a setback to Bandari who were on home ground. Since their last victory against Gor Mahia in March, the team has encountered difficulties in securing a win, managing only three draws at home and suffering two defeats away.
Posta Rangers’ Coach, Bernard Kawinzi, expressed satisfaction with the point his team secured, acknowledging the challenges in earning it stating it is not easy to come away with a point from Mombasa.
On his part, Bandari’s Coach, John Baraza, once again lamented his team’s inability to convert scoring opportunities. “It is another game in which I am concerned having the same issue we’ve faced in our past matches. Failing to score has cost us three points today. If you create numerous opportunities but fail to convert, it amounts to nothing,” Baraza said.
Baraza revealed that he had introduced a new tactic aimed at improving Bandari’s scoring ability, particularly considering their position as the team with the least goals scored among the top five in the league.
Baraza declared his commitment to pushing Bandari to secure a podium finish. Currently, Bandari occupies the fifth position with 46 points from 29 games played while Posta Rangers sit closely behind in sixth place with 43 points, having played the same number of games.
Bandari’s upcoming fixture is against Muhoroni Youth while Posta Rangers will take on Sofapaka, who are currently battling relegation.
