Bomet County Government has made a commitment continue supporting needy students through sponsorship and bursaries.
Education and Vocational Training Chief Officer Dr. John Keter said the County Government has partnered with the Catholic Church, which also supports the less privileged learners, with the objective of enabling them acquire education like their able counterparts.
Keter said this when he paid a courtesy call to Bishop Rt. Rev. Alfred K. Rotich of Kaplong Parish, Kericho Diocese. He said the department of Education had disbursed capitation and development funds to all the 33 VTCs in the county, most of which were sponsored by the Catholic Church.
He said the department had launched a total of Sh 25 million for VTCs across all the 25 wards in the County. At the same time, the official said the rigorous inspection of the construction was ongoing in order to ensure not only quality works, but also provide a conducive environment for learning as he termed it as key at all levels of learning more especially in elementary level.
” A team comprising education officials, department of public works Officials, our accountants and Procurement officers have been conducting the inspection exercise in various parts of the county to the ECDE projects were of the right standards,” he said.
The previous week, the team inspected Chesoen, Bomet Central, then Merigi and Kembu in Bomet East before proceeding to Nyongores in Chepalungu Sub County. This week Longisa and Kipreres centres in Bomet East as well as Sigor in Chepalungu were inspected.
This follows Governor Prof. Hillary Barchok’s insistence on quality works that he said equals to value for money. The official lauded Members of the County Assembly, The Board of Management members and the members of the public, whom he said have played a key role in raising red flags while keeping watch on the projects.
