Kakamega governor Fernandes Barasa has supported former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s call for national dialogue but insisted it must be all-inclusive. Governor Barasa said the dialogue must involve all stakeholders including the civil society, Gen-Zs and the religious segments to address the current impasse.

The dialogue call comes in the wake of the ongoing political crisis that has been witnessed across the country for the past month spearheaded by the Gen Zs.

“A dialogue that is not all-inclusive should be rejected. The leaders must ensure the dialogue is people-centered and with clear inclusion of the Gen Z,” Barasa said. The governor was speaking yesterday at the Holy Spirit Bulimbo Catholic Church, Matungu Sub -County during a church service.

He said as leaders they will support the Gen Z in their quest for better leadership by listening to their voices and predicaments. “The Gen Z are at the forefront of calling for transformation in our Country. We should hear their expressions,” He said

The governor was accompanied by several MCAs led by Majority Leader Philip Maina and other senior County officials. Protests sparked by the controversial Finance Bill 2024 later morphed into calls for the resignation of the entire government and the dissolution of Parliament.

At the same time, Governor Barasa called for speedy investigations into the mysterious killings and discovery of bodies at the Quarry in Embakasi, Nairobi County. “I also call on the security agencies to swiftly investigate the discoveries of bodies at the Quarry in Embakasi, Nairobi County,” He appealed.
