Chaos in Thika as MPs flee for safety after goons invade 

Hell broke loose in Kiganjo market in Thika after two rival political groups crashed as bullets rent the air. In the melee several people were injured after two factions allied to Thika MP Alice Wambui Ng’ang’a and that of Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi through Kamenu ward MCA Peter Mburu.
The clash occurred as the two parties claimed credit for the project as the area MCA convened a meeting at the site where the groundbreaking for the market was planned.
Thika MP   had invited the National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wa (Kikuyu), Gabriel Kagombe (Gatundu South), Elijah Njoroge ( Gatundu North and Ngoliba ward MCA Joachim Njama in launching the market, saying it was facilitate by the National government at Sh55 million
The project, she said, was among those that President William Ruto promised when he toured the county to help the traders working in a better environment as she accused Governor Wamatangi of trying to hijack the project.
A confrontation ensued between supporters of the two factions as the allies of the MCA hurled stones at the MPs. The police lobbied tear gas canisters and fired in the air to disperse the crowd.
Several people were injured, as the MPs were whisked to safety.
