Chepalungu MP disburses bursaries

A total of Sh. 40 million have been channeled towards enabling needy students in Chepalungu Constituency, Bomet County have an opportunity to acquire education.

The funds have been given out to deserving learners in what the area Member of Parliament Victor Koech said the list was arrived at after rigorous social back research. Koech said the distribution of the cheques to had kicked off in earnest.

He said there were 200 distribution centers and that each centres was allocated Sh. 200 000, funds that he said were earmarked for needy secondary school students. The legislator said in January, Sh. 20 million was allocated for bursaries that benefitted needy University and college students.

At the same time, Koech said the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) officials were in the process of mapping and designing the Last Mile electricity connection in Chelusto area in Kongasis ward.

He said Chepalungu had received a total of 27 schemes of phase IV of the last mile connectivity and another 13 schemes under REREC saying some have been completed, others at metering stage while other were yet to start.

He said each ward was to have a total of eight schemes making a total of 40.
