Coastal religious leaders have expressed high expectations with the appointment of Prof. Kithure Kindiki as the new Deputy President (DP) noting that he fits the bill given his unwavering dedication and proven ability as a public servant.

Addressing journalists at a Mombasa Hotel, the leaders of the Pwani Patriotic Religious Leaders (PPRL) group congratulated the Deputy President for his recent appointment and urged him to uphold a commitment to serve all Kenyans indiscriminately.

“We urge Prof. Kindiki to maintain a leadership of equality among all Kenyans regardless of differences in backgrounds, religion, gender and political affiliations,” noted the group’s Chairperson, Sheikh Abu Qattada. Additionally, the religious leader pleaded with the new DP to work cordially with President William Ruto to ensure that they deliver effectively on the government’s mandate and progressively improve the livelihoods of Kenyans.

Qattada added that they are looking forward to seeing the Deputy President working closely with relevant authorities to ensure institutions of government work and execute their mandate efficiently to make a positive impact and nurture nationhood. “We are optimistic that Deputy President Kindiki’s journey will be marked by prosperity and service to all Kenyans. With the right support from citizens, leaders, and institutions, he can play a pivotal role in advancing Kenya’s progress,” said Qattada.

PPRL treasure Bishop Paul Mwaura, called on Kenyans and the political leadership to ease the current political tensions, highlighting that the perennial problem of political intolerance drastically hinders the country’s development agenda. “Let us provide the government with the necessary space to fulfil its mandate effectively as this is a time for fostering peace and strengthening unity across our nation thus through solidarity, we can achieve sustainable development,” reiterated Mwaura.
