Coffee trading continued with the growers fetching Sh708,707,635.92 after they sold 21,311 bags weighing 1,308,310 kilogrammes. The sale at the Nairobi Coffee Exchange (NCE),Ā Ichamara factory in Nyeri was offered the highest payment for its 93 bags of AA grades each at Sh 45,499($346) through the Alliance Berries Limited.
Other factories marketed by the Alliance Berries Limited that achieved the best prices are Iyego factory in Murangāa Sh41,159.5 per bag, and Gituraās factory 22 bags traded at each Sh43,789.5. Ā Kirinyaga Slopes sold 22 bags of AA that were bought by Kenya Nut Company each at Sh40,896.5 per bag
Ā Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua speaking in Kirinyaga during the burial of Julius Kano Ndumbi, his high school teacher said the government was keen to ensure the coffee farmers get better returns from the market. ā I monitoring the coffee market being one of the responsibilities assigned to me by President William Ruto,ā said the DP.
In the sale, Alliance Berries Limited sold 7,006 bags of coffee that fetchedĀ Sh 264,490,757.64, while Kirinyaga Slopes sold 6,099 bags of the commodity for Sh179,601,976.75. New KPCU managed to raise Sh150,067,663.24 after the sale of 4,698 bags of the commodity.
NCE Chief Executive Officer Lisper Ndungāu said in the sale the marketing agents delivered 3,241 bags of the premier coffee AA that fetched Sh136,317,255.28 and 7,158 bags of AB that were bought at Sh258,468,851.9. ā The production of quality grades should be enhanced as the buyers are in demand at the market. Delivery of AA was at 19.23 percent while that AB at 36.47 percent,ā said Ms Ndungāu.
Dealers in the market were Ibero Kenya Ltd,Louis Dreyfus Company,Taylor Winch (Coffee) Limited, C.Dorman Ltd, Diamond Coffee Company Ltd,Kenyacof Limited. Other marketing agents that participated in the auction are Bungoma with 353 bags that earned Sh 9,847,103.98, KCCE 1,491 bags, for Sh52,705,228.93, Kiambu Coffee 743 bags at Sh25,958,244.65. Also Kipkelion delivered 487 bags that achieved sales of Sh 13,941,238.13, Minnesota 434 bags for Sh 12,095,422.6. At the conclusion of last weekās sale, the farmers got Sh 581 million from the sale of 18,762 bags after 3,114 bags that had been lined for auction were withdrawn.
