Coffee growers gets Sh71 million as cherry fund

In three weeks, the government through New KPCU has disbursed over Sh71.5 million to farmers through cherry advance programme. In the period between June 21 and July 1, the agency has disbursed Sh 71,574,627 to 3,888 beneficiaries in 15 counties.

New KPCU Managing Director Timothy Mirugi  said the amount has been disbursed to the growers in the counties of Bungoma, Embu, Kericho, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Kisii, Machakos, Makueni, Meru, Migori, Murang’a, Nakuru, Nandi,Nyeri, and Tharaka Nith.

The MD said Machakos registered the highest disbursement of Sh28,038,426  to 2,723 growers.

“Migori County had the second highest disbursement where 669 farmers benefitted with Sh 15,463,265,” said the MD.
