The weekly Nairobi Coffee Auction faced low prices, with 23,930 bags of coffee fetching Sh777,420,647, down from the previous one billion shillings.
In the sale that attracted 16 local and international buyers, Gakuyu ini factory fetched the highest price of Sh47,256 per bag of AA to Rockberns sold by the Alliance Berries Limited to Rockbern. Wanjengi factory affiliated to Kahuhia cooperative society fetched the second-best price of Sh46,992 per bag of AA bought by Diamond Coffee.
Last week Konyu Coffee Factory and Iyego Coffee Factory represented by Alliance Berries Limited achieved the best prices of Sh54,540 and Sh50,895 per bag for their 132 bags of AA respectively bought by C Dormans.
Nairobi Coffee Exchange CEO Lisper Ndung’u said nine marketing agents participated in the market delivering 14,779 bags of AA and AB grades with Alliance Berries Limited delivering 6,178 bags of coffee that were bought at Sh.216,260,357, as Kirinyaga Slopes fetched Sh188,709,766 for 6,163 bags.
“In the auction, Ibero Kenya led the pack with 5,658 bags, followed by Taylor Winch 4,712bags, Kenyacof 4,121 bags, C.Dorman 3,266 bags, Louis Dreyfus 3,008 bags,” said the CEO. Other marketing agents who included NKPCU got Sh164,051,345 for 4,857 bags, Minnesota Sh51,358,010 for 1,599 bags, Murang’a County fetched Sh12,678,800 for 383 bags, Kipkelion Sh830,187 for 36 bag, Kinya managed 803 bags that raised Sh 22,294,216 and Kiambu Coffee in jected Sh62,183,771 for 2,098 bags.
