Students will now be able to pursue advanced degree programs, including a PhD and MSC in Computer Science and Information Technology at Zetech University after it was accredited by the Commission for University Education (CUE).

The University’s Vice Chancellor Prof. Njenga Munene said the move will make the institution marketable, attract local and international students and stay ahead of educational trends in the evolving job market. He said the university boasts of an impressive track record in technological innovations and academic excellence, and has in the recent past been upscaling its programmes to meet market needs.

Earlier this month, Zetech University was ranked one of the best universities in Africa in the top 10 Universities in Africa to study Blockchain Technology by Emurgo Africa.

“The University has introduced new courses, in the PhD in Computer Science and Msc in Computer Science and IT. It is also focused on emerging technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain technology, Software Engineering, Cloud Computing, Cyber Security, Software Development, Machine Learning and the Internet of Things (IoT),” Prof. Munene noted.

The University has in the recent past been receiving recognitions in generation of tech-solutions, with students winning top awards including in the Inter-University Power Learn Hackathon, a competition that saw all Universities in Kenya showcase their ideas.

Some of the innovations the students have developed include Airsafi green solutions; an innovation which has gained attention among Environmental experts in the country.  The innovation seeks to monitor the air quality index, providing real-time notifications to locals and industries about air pollution levels.

Earlier this month, another student Alex Okabo was selected to participate in an innovative event at Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN@80) in Kigali, Rwanda, where he represented the University in showcasing innovations exploring the Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and the future of IPv6 deployment.

For two years in a row, Zetech University students have represented the country in the World Robotics Competition in Geneva in 2022 and Singapore in 2023. They are now preparing for Athens in September 2024.
