Ministry of Education Director General Elyas Abdi Jillaow has called for heightened vigilance by education and security officers during the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams to prevent irregularities. Speaking during the opening of the exam container in Kaloleni, Kilifi County, Jillaow stressed the importance of upholding the credibility of the exams, urging all stakeholders to ensure the process proceeds with integrity.
Accompanied by Kilifi County Education Director, Veronica Kalungu, Jillaow confirmed that the examination process is running smoothly in the region, though one student is sitting for her exams from hospital due to a serious health condition.
“So far so good. The examination has not had any hitches or any challenge, but we have requested our examination center managers, the security personnel, the education officers here in Kilifi County to put their best foot forward as we man the 2024 KCSE examination,” he said.
Jillaow also reminded personnel from various government departments to follow the established protocols at exam centres, which include surrendering mobile phones, ensuring strict compliance, and maintaining constant vigilance to eliminate opportunities for malpractice.
“To all our personnel, both from the Ministry of Interior, the security team, our education officers, the message remains the same all over the country. We should do our exams as expected so that the exams are reliable, credible and as expected,” he said. The exams began on schedule, with all scripts and necessary materials reaching schools in time. Security officers have been stationed at examination centres to ensure the process remains secure and transparent.
