A section of Embu leaders and residents have welcomed the move by President William Ruto of dissolving the cabinet. They said the move was long overdue as the majority of the Cabinet Secretaries were incompetent while others had integrity issues or were graft-tainted and thus not credible to hold public offices.

This, they said, had eroded the confidence of Kenyans in the cabinet that is expected to be the key driver of national development.

Political lobbyist Kirangacha Mwaniki said the concerns of many Kenyans who had expressed a lot of misgivings with the cabinet with regard to incompetence, arrogance, and impunity had been considered. He said the move will serve in restoring the eroded confidence even as he challenged the president when reconstituting his cabinet to appoint people who will enable him deliver his promises.

“The President has an opportunity to appoint technocrats, people that are not marred with corruption and those ready to work with every one of us in this Country,” he said.

Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Embu Branch Chair Mugo Mate dismissed the disbanded cabinet as a failed cabinet with the President having appointed his political cronies and supporters some of whom did not have an idea of what was expected of them.

“What we expect to see is an all-inclusive cabinet that has the face of the country by encompassing professionals from all sectors,” he said. Former Kirimari Ward MCA Morris Nyaga the president has started demonstrating indications of a listening leader having withdrawn the contentious Finance Bill and now disbanding the cabinet.

He asked the president not to reappoint any of them when he will be constituting the next cabinet to give his government a fresh start. Gen Z Dennis Muriithi called on the president to consider setting aside some cabinet slots for the young people to enable them feel as part and parcel of the government.
