Five arrested during an alcohol raid in Kitengela

Police in Kitengela, Kajiado county have arrested five people for allegedly establishing liquor business near schools.
In a raid conducted my a multi agency officers under the command of Kitengela Police boss David Ole Shaani, and the Kajiado County Ward Administrator Bruce Likama, the officers raided Thorn Grove and arrested the culprits.
More than thirty people were also arrested for being drunk and disorderly.They were detained at the Kitengela police station awaiting to be arraigned in court. The officers were reacting following an outcry by area residents who complained of mushrooming illegal alcohol outlets near secondary and primary schools.
In a letter sent to the area security committee, the residents argued that the area has more than six schools and the alcohol outlets are becoming a big threat to the learners.
”This structure has proven to be a security threat as they are also affecting the health of our youth who spend the day inhaling the toxicit alcohol and Bhang among other illegal substances” read part of the letter.
Isinya police boss Patrick Manyasi who confirmed the incident said the crackdown will be executed in collaboration with relevant National and County Government Agencies and seeks to ensure strict compliance with legal requirements about the positioning of such outlets.
