Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua said politicians should stick to their mandate and respect others and shun being usedby critics to sabotage Mt Kenya unity.

Speaking at Endarasha Catholic Church in Kieni in Nyeri county, Gachagua when he appeared after a week of absence in limelight, appealed to the Mt Kenya region to shield their own from embarrassment.

The Deputy President said leaders should bring down political temperatures and dedicate their time to serve the people instead of dividing the Mountain.

“Let’s work towards service delivery and as leaders we give each time to deliver and avoid being used by the political distractors,” said Gachagua saying the Endarasha-Charity road will be completed.

He said the war on illicit brews will continue as he was supported by President William Ruto. “Have been in the villages in the past one week, and happy to note that issues of illicit brews had been resolved,” said Gachagua.

Mukurwe ini, he said, was the only locality in Nyeri county affected by the illicit brews and needed to be addressed. In matters pertaining to development, he said, Endarasha Secondary School will get Sh3 million to construct a science laboratory.

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga said Mt Kenya region will not allow Gachagua to be tormented politically. Kahiga said any political foul play against Gachagua will be resisted as there are persons sparking the bad blood out to create division in the government.

“Let’s focus on the problem instead of sugar coating it, if something fishy is done at Gachagua, we shall face the tormentors together,” said Kahiga. Ruto faced issues as he served in the last government where he was denied vehicles among other privileges.

Senator Aaoron Cheruiyot asked the deputy president to ignore the political talk fronted by critics as he has done the best towards fighting drugs and substance menace as well as looking at the welfare of coffee and tea farmers.

Cheruiyot said the leadership in Mt Kenya should know Gachagua is a national leader not a street man as perceived by some.

” Gachagua has been resting and now has enough capacity to support President William Ruto. why are some people concerned about his absence in the limelight,” said Nandi Senator.

Former Laikipia MP Catherine Waruguru told off critics who have trained their guns against Gachagua.

“There are people now in leadership positions who at the campaign time failed to support the Kenya Kwanza agenda but today they are playing politics discrediting the deputy President,” said Waruguru.
Others present were host Kieni MP Wainaina Cheini,Rindikiri Mugambi( Buuri), Jane Kihara(Naivasha) among others.
