Gachagua reveals mission to unite the mountain

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has pleaded with the mountain leaders to embrace peace and shun those causing disunity. He said he has been in the forefront negotiating for peace and unity across the country, to help leaders push for development.

The DP said the mountain region should stand united, as an avenue to nurture peace for the sake of development.  Speaking at Our Lady of Visitation Timau Catholic Parish in Buuri constituency said he was working to bring Meru leaders together and resolve their issues in three months.

He said he was pursuing national unity expressing gratitude to western kenya leaders for pursuing unity. Gachagua said the call for unity was paramount as it would enable the leadership to negotiate and to push for development for the interest of the people.

“In Meru County, I have called Governor Kawira Mwangaza  to negotiate with the MCAs’ and local leaders. Last month I had a meeting with Njuri Ncheke elders to discuss a strategy that would unite the Meru region,” said Gachagua.

He pleaded with the MCAs and MPs to extend forgiveness to Governor Kawira Mwangaza.”The governor, if the MCAs and MPs wronged you forgive them. All must embrace the culture of forgiveness,” said Gachagua. In Kiambu county, he said, the MCAs are in talking terms with Governor Kimani Wamatangi but there is a slight problem with the MPs.

“Am looking to have a talk with Kiambu MPs led by the majority leader Kimani Ichungw’a to ensure they are working together,” said the DP.

 who was accompanied by In Nakuru county, he said, there was a challenge and managed to bring together Governor Susan Kihika and Senator Tabitha Karanja.

 He was accompanied by Laikipia Governor Joshua Irungu, MPs host Mugambi Rindikiri( Buuri), Peter Kihungi( Kangema) Jane Kihara(Naivasha) among others.
