A multi-agency unit intercepted 50 kilogrammes of elephant’s tusks in Ol Moran market in Laikipia county.
In the operation coordinated by officers from Kenya Wildlife Service and National Police Service in Olmoran arrested a suspect identified Epuku Lottukokoi Lengoletup with the tusks in his home.
The tusks have a street value of Sh1.5 million which were stored at Ol Moran police station after Saturday’s operation.
In the 4.30 pm operation, the security officers raided the home of the 50-year-old suspect and discovered six pieces of tusks hidden in two gunny bags.
Sources with the police disclosed that the suspect has been on their radar in connection with poaching and will be presented in court once they are through with the investigations.
