Government release capitation as the learners heads for April holiday

As the secondary schools prepare to close early due to lack of resources to sustain the learners in their compounds, the government has released Sh30 billion.

The Ministry of Education this evening announced the release of the capitation to the schools, as Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu  said the Sh30.5 billion will cover secondary school education capitation, and loans and scholarships for students in universities.

The CS said  Sh7 billion will cater for capitation for public schools at the Junior Secondary School level, while Sh16 billion will cover capitation grants under the Free Day Secondary School education programme.

“The funds are to be received in schools before they close for the April Holidays next week,” said Machogu.
