Government steps in to remove illegal PSVs on the road

The government has ordered the immediate removal of the unauthorized Public Service Vehicles (PSV) from the highways. Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipochumba Murkomen said the government has blacklisted illegal PSVs from operating on Kenyan roads with immediate effect.

He issued a stern warning that rogue PSVs found ferrying passengers would be impounded and the crew prosecuted. “The vehicles like Noah, Probox, Voxies which are mostly used in the transportation of the passengers once found they will be impounded and operators charged in court for flouting traffic regulations,” said the CS.

At the same time, Murkomen  has directed all the school buses to be subjected to NTSA inspection by May 1st, ahead of learners resuming for second term.

” This year and last year there have been many accidents involving the school buses which have raised alarm, thus a need for a long-lasting solution.  It has been decided that the buses must be presented for inspection,” said the CS.
