With the alarming rate of fake news Circulation in the Country, the government is set to create a fact checking website in an effort to Curb the rising cases of fake news in circulation.
Speaking during the final day of the 2nd TICON Africa ICT and Marketing Conference at the Sarova Whitesand Beach Resort, Shanzu, head of the President’s Special Program and Creative Economy, Dennis Itumbi noted that they will use Artificial Intelligence to ensure that fake news were discarded upon dissemination.
“My office will use every available resource to fight and eliminate spread of fake news and misinformation campaigns which are rampant in Kenya, “Noted Itumbi. Themed,” Leaders of Africa” the 3-day event saw various ICT experts and professional marketers across Africa including Ghana, South Africa and Uganda among others gathering to discuss on the future of the digital world.
Furthermore, Itumbi highlighted that to ensure a seamless digital space in the Country, the government is setting up ICT hubs in each ward across the Country that will provide Free Wi-Fi and Computers hence Kenyans will less likely miss out on remote jobs and other opportunities,” Noted Itumbi.
Additionally, he noted that the Office of Special programs and Creative economy shall lobby for an innovation and marketing Visa that will ensure free entry of the stakeholders in an effort to promote ICT marketing across Africa.
The next Conference is set to be held in Ghana, in 2025.
