Governor Barasa Launches ECDE Centre in Matungu Sub County

Over Sh70 million has been allocated by the County Government of Kakamega to build a model ECDE centre in Kholera ward, Matungu Sub County. Area Governor Fernandes Barasa said this is in addition to 60 centres the county is building this financial year to accommodate more learners.

The governor spoke yesterday when he launched the construction of the centre at Bulimbo Primary School. He said the ECDE Centre was a project to be completed by the County in partnership with Local Authorities Provident Fund (LAPFUND). He said the County has apportioned Sh18 million for furniture and another Sh60 million for capitation.

“To create a conducive learning environment for the learners, my government has allocated Sh18 million for furniture and Sh60 million for capitation,” he said. The Governor further noted that they have also invested significantly in technical and vocational training in the county.

He divulged that so far 38 twin workshops have been constructed at a cost of Sh140.6 million and 19 classrooms at a cost of Sh117.5 million.
