Bungoma governor Kenneth Lusaka has commended (IAEA) for Spearheading Food security initiative

While delivering a keynote address to delegates from 28 African countries at the prestigious Safari Park Hotel, praising the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for its pivotal role in organizing Kenya’s inaugural coordination meeting of Atomic 4 Food.

Lusaka underscored the transformative impact of this gathering on the agriculture sector, emphasizing the crucial contribution of agriculture to Kenya’s economy, accounting for approximately 34% of the GDP.

On the other hand, Lusaka escalate climate change challenges, including heavy rainfall and floods causing loss of lives and livestock. Thus, he urged all 47 counties to embrace and exploit new technologies to ensure food security.

He further recognized the significance of nuclear technology in bolstering food security and emphasized the imperative of support for the project, aligning with the national agenda.

The governor expressed optimism for collaborative efforts with fellow African nations to tackle food security issues through the utilization of nuclear science and technology for agricultural advancement.

IAEA Director Shaukat Abdulrazak and other esteemed delegates attended the event.
