Narok County Governor, Patrick Ntutu, has commissioned the construction of the Masaantare-Ololulunga road, which will be upgraded to bitumen standard at a cost of Sh. 85 million.

Ntutu said he prioritized the construction of the 2Km road as it links residents of Loita, Maji Moto and Ololulunga, to their Sub-county headquarters. He also initiated the construction of an 11km road in Narok town and a seven-kilometer stretch from Nairegie Ekare junction to Nairegie Ekare Township.

“Some of these roads are supposed to be funded by the National government, but after the Finance Bill 2024 was dropped, we realized that we could wait for a long time before the National Government released money to counties. That is why we have decided to fund the projects, to ease movement to major towns,” he said.

Ntutu requested a contractor to employ local youth for manual tasks and purchase materials from local hardware, to boost the local economy.  The business community and motorists plying along the road welcomed the renovation of the road, saying it will ease their movement to the Sub- county headquarters.

Mzee Moto reiterated that he volunteered to help the motorists because he witnessed how they suffered driving along the road with multiple potholes.

The Governor was accompanied by Narok South Member of Parliament, Kitilai Ole Ntutu, area Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) George Omolo, Ololulunga Member of County Assembly, Sonkoi Lemain, County Committee Member-In- Charge of Road, John Gatua, among others.
