Governor Ottichilo pledges to restore Maragoli Hills Forest

Vihiga governor Dr. Wilber Ottichilo says the restoration of the Maragoli hills forest is a flagship project that he is determined to deliver. Dr. Ottichilo said they have embarked on the mission of planting seedlings on the forest stretch situated in Maragoli South location of Vihiga sub county.

He spoke this on Saturday during a tree planting event at the site, where he was accompanied by media personality Alex Chamwada.  They planted a total of 1,000 seedlings. “Our efforts are geared towards restoring and conserving the crucial ecosystem which serves as the water tower in the region,” he noted.

The team also consisted of Gilbert Werunga, who represented the Abeingo Association of Canada, at the event. The county head stated that the noble initiative aims at boosting the campaign for mitigating the adverse effects of Climate change.

He commended Chamwada for documenting and broadcasting the forest restoration exercise through his media channel, Chams media.
