Police in Kisumu are investigating the murder of a guard by unknown assailants at Kibuye Market early Tuesday morning. Kisumu Central Sub-County Police Commander Peter Mulai confirmed the incident, identifying the deceased as Martin Aneim, who was employed by Pride Kings Security.

Mulai reported that Aneim sustained fatal head injuries, including a deep cut and his body was taken to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Preliminary investigations suggested that the attackers attempted to break into container stores near the Sifa House in Robert Ouko estate at the break of dawn. “We are collaborating with administrative and security teams to address the insecurity in Kisumu. We have intensified patrols, ensuring 24-hour surveillance in the area until it is secured,” said Mulai.

Kisumu Central Deputy Police Commander Jactone Mango reported that no material losses have been confirmed from the attempted burglary. Mango noted that the same store had been broken into less than half a month ago, resulting in the previous night guard’s death.

He affirmed that police officers were working diligently to prevent such incidents, with increased on-foot and motor vehicle patrols throughout the county.
