Afraha Stadium in Nakuru County is set to have a handball pitch, Chief officer in charge of sports in Nakuru county Alex Maina has said.
Maina said made the disclosure during a meeting with the leadership of the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) at his office.
The KHF Secretary General Mr. Warigi Mungai commended Alex Maina for his collaborative efforts in ensuring the realization and grassroots impact of various sports disciplines, from football to handball.
Maina commended the KHF leadership for their outstanding stewardship and encouraged them to become part of the Nakuru County Sports Council, led by Coach Lemmy Karani, emphasizing that the umbrella sports organization would effectively address sports issues and provide long-term solutions for Nakuru County.
Karani underscored the importance of sports in the growth of children, youth and even the elderly because it creates teamwork, and enhances unity among communities, especially in a multi-ethnic county like Nakuru.
The coach noted that astute sports people are celebrated by the world irrespective of their tribe, country or continent of origin since their achievements are considered an achievement for humanity.
He noted with pride the achievements of local sports persons and how it has contributed in advertising the country worldwide and urged all countries to put up sports stadia to promote sports activities.
