Huduma Center Embu staff marked this year’s Customer Service Week by donating assorted items to children with disabilities at Jomo Kenyatta Children’s Home.

The gesture that saw the staff also spend quality time with the children was part of giving back to the society and reaching out to the community that they serve on a daily basis. The visit came as a relief for the children’s home that is still reeling after a fire raced down the sanctuary two months ago.

“We came here to share our love, compassion and emotional support with these less privileged members of our society,” said Huduma Center Staffer Lydia Mbogo. She said as a center, their aim is to extend their services beyond the usual customer interactions by engaging in charitable activities and community support that coincides with this year’s theme of “Above and Beyond.”

Pauline Muriithi, the project officer at the home expressed her gratitude over the gesture, saying it had lifted the spirits of the children. “The assistance has come at a critical time when we are trying to rebuild the facility following the June inferno,” she said. Lastly, she called on other well-wishers to come on board to assist them rebuild the destroyed dormitory.
