Summon

The Nanyuki court has summoned an investigating officer due to delays in charging three suspects accused of leading Gen Z protests in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.

Resident Magistrate Emmaculate Deche while issuing the order against Corporal Mutembei said that he had only fourteen days to present himself and update the court on the investigations to facilitate the charging of the suspects who had not been formally charged despite several appearances in court.

“The respondents are not in custody and their gadgets (phones) have also been returned to them before this court. Significant time has lapsed on assumption that investigations had been completed. I therefore grant the prosecution more fourteen days and therefore issue summons to the investigative officer to attend court and give an update of the investigation,” said Ms Deche.
