Kajiado East Constituency Member of Parliament (MP) Kakuta Ole Maimai has commissioned a classroom for the Junior Secondary School(JSS) learners in Noonkopir Primary school. The classroom was constructed through the Kajiado East National Government Constituency Development Fund(NG-CDF) for the 2023/2024 financial year.
Ole Maimai said that the construction of four more JSS classes in the school are ongoing and will be ready by January for use by the Grade 9 learners. He commended the Board of Management (BOM) and the school leadership for their diligent supervision of the project, ensuring it met the highest standards.
To address issues of safety in the school, the legislator committed to build a perimeter fence in the upcoming financial year. The legislator revealed that apart from Noonkopir Primary school, G.K. Prison will also benefit from six junior secondary schools to cater for the growing population in Kitengela town.
Everlyn Kaise, the Noonkopir Primary school BOM Chairperson thanked the MP for the classroom saying it will help learners to have a conducive learning environment. The government is currently constructing 16,000 junior secondary school classrooms across the country to ensure smooth transition to Grade 9 next year.
The Ministry of Education already disbursed Sh11 billion for the construction of 11,000 classrooms and in September this year, the National Treasury released Sh7.8 billion to NG-CDF to also aid in the construction of 5,000 classrooms.
