Juja Level 4 Hospital in Juja Constituency is nearing completion and once operational will be expected to reduce patient visits to Thika and Ruiru Level 5 Hospitals Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi has noted that the hospital is the only Level 4 facility in the sub-county, emphasizing that the area has long been without such a healthcare institution
“Despite a population of over 500,000, the sub-county has remained without a level four facility,” the governor said. He further emphasized his mission of providing unparalleled health services to the residents of the county, noting that the hospital will be equipped with modern medical equipment and beds.
“With its modern design, this 160-bed capacity facility embodies my healthcare vision of providing an essential resource for Juja and its environs,” Wamatangi said. The Governor announced that the construction of the hospital marks a significant advancement, delivering top-tier healthcare infrastructure directly to the sub-county
According to the County Executive Committee Member for Health Services, Dr. Elias Maina, the facility is set to transform healthcare in Juja Sub-County by offering a wide range of services, including outpatient and inpatient care, a radiology department, administrative offices, a maternity wing, and two surgical theaters.
Additionally, he added that the hospital will have specialized wards for pediatrics, women, and men, ensuring a comprehensive approach to healthcare The CECM also emphasized the strategic and crucial importance of the facility, highlighting its role in enhancing the livelihoods of local residents
“The establishment of this Level 4 hospital is critical, as it will significantly enhance access to quality healthcare, alleviate pressure and inconvenient travels to seek medical care to Ruiru, Gatundu and Thika’s neighboring facilities, and improve overall health outcomes for the community,” he said
There has been an outcry from Juja residents due to the long distances they previously had to travel to access healthcare services from Thika, Gatundu, and Ruiru hospitals, as well as the high costs associated with private health facilities. However, those challenges have now been addressed, and residents are commending the Kiambu County Government, for its efforts to improve the health sector in the county.
“I used to go to Gatundu every week for a health check-up, but now healthcare services have been brought closer to us. We thank the Kiambu County Government for their efforts in constructing more health facilities in the county,” Stephen Kimani Githinji, a resident of Juja, said.
