Kajiado county government declares weed a county disaster 

The county government of Kajiado has declared the invasion of a dangerous weed ”Ipomea” as a county disaster. Governor Joseph Ole Lenku says the county is under attack that is spreading into large fields cousing devastating effects on survival of useful vegetation.
Speaking during the launching of a campaign duped ”Ngoa Ipomea” the county boss said the weed is a threat to the livestock keepers and his government will use all wys to eradicate it.
”We are under attack by the invasive Ipomea weed! This dangerous weed is spreading like bushfire and it is having a devastating effect on survival of useful vegetation” said Lenku
He said the weed has chocked large fields of pasture, effectively putting under threat the availability of natural livestock feed and therefore the  growth and spread of Ipomoea has a direct negative impact, on the mission of food security and economic emancipation at the household level.
”My Government has evaluated the various ways in which it can eradicated. One of these ways is to physically uproot it, which I have launched today (Saturday), together with our partners in this movement of Ng’oa Ipomea, we shall engage our youth at the community level to physically uproot and appropriately dispose it” he added.
The immediate points of this campaign will be Kajiado Central, Kajiado East and parts of Kajiado South.
