Kakamega Judicial Service officers Tuesday gathered in solidarity to mourn the late Makadara Law Courts Principal Magistrate Monica Kivuti, who was shot while on duty and later succumbed to gunshot wounds at the Nairobi hospital.

Speaking during the occasion, the President of the Law Society of Kenya(LSK) Kakamega chapter Allan Otsieno called for enhancement of security in courts and among the Judicial Service staff, while they discharge their duties.

He also asked for measures to be put in place for proper surveillance in court rooms during court sessions to avert any threats to security of the judicial officers and members of the public.

Otieno called upon the JSC Officers to raise concerns with their employers, should they feel insecure or threatened for prompt action to be taken, while urging the Judiciary to introduce frisking of all court attendees before they enter the court rooms.
