Kakamega law court reviews security measures

The Kakamega law court has reviewed security measures with a view to improve security for all court users.

In a notice to the Judiciary staff and court users, Kakamega Law Court Senior Principal Magistrate Joseph Nduriri said Gate 1 of the court will be used exclusively by Judges, Magistrates and prison vehicles ferrying remandees in and out of the court.

“The parking area for judges and magistrates is out of bounds to all except security officials attached to judges and magistrates,” the notice read. Advocates and other court users using motor vehicles will be required to use Gate 2 where they will undergo mandatory security checks and screening.

The court has however closed Gate C which will be out of bounds from court users. Further directives in the same notice provide that Gate 4 of the court shall be used as the entrance and exit for all judicial staff using motor vehicles and pedestrian court users including those using motorcycles and bicycles.

 “Every person using this gate will be screened and will be required to produce their identification documents,” the notice reads.

“We have provided clear signage within the court buildings to guide our users find their destinations. Kindly strictly follow the directions in the signage. Our customer service staff and all members of staff will always be on hand to assist our users find their destinations,” the notice reads.
