KEMSA has dispatched essential medicines and medical supplies worth Sh22,523,862,340 in the last 10 months and National Health
Strategic Programs (NHSP) supplies countrywide.
The authority chairman Irungu Nyakera said the dispatch has been effected in more than 8,954 health facilities in the 47 counties.
Nyakera speaking in Kisumu where he accompanied Health Cabinet Secretary Ms Susan Nakumisha, said KEMSA has regained sparkle as the last mile delivery of more than 86,040 EMMS and
NSPHP supplies dispatched to the health facilities

KEMSA, was also pursuing to recover long-standing debts
amounting to more than Sh 3.1 billion that constrain its capacity to deliver services as it engage the Council of Governors CoG)
and respective County Governors on settlement of the debts.
Nyakera said since May last year when the board was appointed, they have worked cohesively to address major shortcomings that had hindered the authority to deliver the medical supplies.
“These efforts have focused on improving key areas such as procurement, finance, governance, risk management, human resources, IT and support systems, and warehousing and logistics management, specifically targeting order processing,
inventory, distribution, and transport management,” said the chairman.
The board, he added, has adopted a comprehensive turnaround strategy aimed at the restoration of the functionality and enhance operational efficiency throughout the organization.
He disclosed that in the last six months, the board has made major strides in strengthening the procurement process to realize value for money, while remaining optimistic that these will significantly impact the cost of medical commodities by the end of this financial year.
