Kiambu journalists protest, demand justice for colleague shot by police

Journalists in Kiambu County staged a protest on Wednesday at Kiambu town demanding justice for their colleague, Catherine Wanjeri Kariuki of Mediamax, who was shot by a police officer while covering demonstrations in the town of Nakuru.
The journalists condemned the incident, describing it as a horrifying and barbaric act by a reckless security officer.
They emphasized that Kariuki was simply performing her essential role as a journalist, covering a public event.
They pointed out that she was clearly identifiable as a member of the press, wearing a Media Council of Kenya (MCK) press jacket when she was shot twice in the thigh.
