A widow in Migori County has been diagnosed of kidney stones. Jane Aludo, a resident of Nyatike Sub County, has been diagnosed with acute kidney stones which have been affecting her for the last six years with doctors charging Sh550,000 to perform a crucial lifesaving surgery at Jaramogi Teaching and Referral Hospital.

While the sickly woman has fees to worry about, the gnawing pain in her abdomen and how to raise the funds continue to deteriorate her health. Aludo has been hospitalized previously at hospitals in Migori, Homa Bay and Jaramogi Teaching and Referral Hospital but lack of medical funds has forced her to abandon the treatment.

The widow who has five children to take care of, with three in secondary school is appealing to well-wishers to come to her rescue to enable her to get medical attention. Denis Obuon, a radiologist at Migori Referral Hospital who helped the patient get referrals last year said that kidney stone disease is common in Migori County, especially in the semi-arid area of Nyatike.

Obuon emphasized the importance of preventative measures, such as maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated, and regular medical check-ups, to mitigate the risk of developing kidney stones.
