Kingdom of Eswatini benchmarks in Murang’a

High ranking officials of the Kingdom of Eswatini formerly Swaziland) are in Murang’a county benchmarking on functions of the devolution.

The 13-man delegation led by the Ministers for Tinkhundla  Administration and Development Mr S’Khumbuzo Dlamini and Mr Apollo Maphalala (Housing and Urban Development) expressed interest in devolved function and sustainability as their country has embarked on a constitution making process.

Dlamini said the delegation in its three days in Kenya though the Ministry of Lands and Housing was interested in establishing the impact of devolution and management of resources.

“Back at home we are committed towards improved service delivery to the citizens, thus the reasons King Mswati 111 allowed the delegation to visit Kenya for benchmarking. Murang’a  county, owing to its success, was chosen to host the delegation,” said the Eswatini Education Minister.

S’Khumbuzo said their country appreciates the gesture demonstrated by Kenya in sharing knowledge focusing on close relationships.

The host Governor Irungu Kang’ata accompanied by CECs’ Prof Kiarie Mwaura (Finance) and Kamau Kirangai( Devolution) took the delegation through the revenue and administration Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE).

Kang’ata said the success of his administration follows the automation of the revenue collection processes and monitoring of the devolved function to ensure high class service delivery.

“We are automating the 157 health facilities out of which already 100 are connected eying to launch telemedicine services as a way to improve service delivery and provide our people with the best treatment,” said Kang’ata.

In four months, through the innovation, Murang’a County government will partner with a firm offering drone services to enable distribution of drugs and transportation of specimens to the laboratories from the hospitals across the nine sub counties.

The delegation visited Vidhu Ramji ECDE, Murang’a County Creameries in Maragua, Maragua Smart City Programme and the new Kenneth Matiba Hospital in Makenji under construction.
