Over 5000 households in Khwisero Sub County will benefit from last-mile electricity project being spearheaded by the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC).
Area Member of Parliament (MP) Christopher Aseka said increasing access to power in rural areas is a catalyst to transforming the lives and livelihoods of the people. The MP was speaking on Monday in Iyanya Village, Kisa West Ward while launching the last mile electricity project in the area.
He said the initiative would enhance electricity infrastructure by maximizing 27 sites across the four wards and covering 78 villages including the installation of 10 new transformers at the two sites. “This initiative marks a significant step towards fulfilling President William Ruto’s promise to have reliable access to power during his last visit to Khwisero earlier this year,” he emphasized.
The legislator noted that more homes, schools and businesses in the constituency would be connected to the grid thus opening doors to greater opportunities in the area. “As we work towards achieving universal access by 2030, this initiative not only improves the quality of life for our residents but also lays the groundwork for economic growth and development in Khwisero Sub County,” he added.
Some of the villages to be connected to power include Walusaba, Emulundu, Dudi West, Ekonjero, Emalele, Ikoko C, Mushikongolo among others.
