Women and opinion leaders have condemned Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo over a verbal attack on Senator Fatuma Dullo. Speaking to journalists Wednesday, Isiolo human rights activist Anab Kassim said that the governor used abusive and vulgar language directed at the sitting Isiolo Senator during a live local radio show last night.

Kassim said that the government’s relevant authorities like the Media Council of Kenya, Communications Authority, the Directorate of criminal investigation (DCI), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission should seek the audio recording of the local radio programme’s transmission and take the appropriate action to curtail harassment of respected leaders.

“An urgent interrogation of the clip and the governor himself should be conducted by the authorities so that the male chauvinism can stop without delay,” Kassim said.

Wabera Ward aspirant George Karithi addressing demonstrators who were demonstrating against governor Guyo for using vulgar language on Senator Dullo during a radio show.

The Wabera Ward aspirant George Karithi said that corruption has been the order of the day in Isiolo, where County workers are not paid and some are being kicked out from their rental houses. The politician said that governor Guyo should also honour the summons to appear before the Senate’s Accounts Committee (PAC) and the Health Committee so as to clear his name.

Several women speakers urged women to demonstrate against the governor until he apologizes to Senator Dullo and women in general saying the senator was doing her oversight job the mandate given to her by the Isiolo electorate.

Karithi said the County that gets Sh6.6 billion from the National Treasury annually, should be actively supporting development plans in partnership with the development actors instead of the top leadership engaging in exchange of horrible and unprintable words.

He appealed to the county government to intervene and avert embarrassment caused to its workers, who have already started receiving warning letters for failure to remit statutory deductions to institutions like the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) among other bodies.
