Unity

Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome has called on unity among leaders in Tharaka Nithi County to ensure harmony and progress for their electorate.

Speaking during the burial ceremony for the former Tharaka Nithi County Woman Representative Beatrice Nkatha, Ms Wahome, hailed the deceased as great leader who championed the unity of leaders that enabled progress in the county development projects.

The CS highlighted ongoing issues with impending land cases in some areas, which have hindered the issuance of title deeds.  Wahome also addressed the ongoing disputes near the Meru-Tharaka Nithi boundaries, stating that she will work closely with County Commissioners and the two governors to resolve the conflict and ensure people in the area receive their title deeds.

Additionally, the CS mentioned the construction of a modern market in Chuka, with the government securing Sh290 million for the project, and urged leaders to resolve political issues to ensure other remaining areas, such as Marimanti, can also be developed.

The Government Spokesperson, Isaac Mwaura, praised Ms Nkatha for her pure heart and generosity, lamenting the significant gap her passing on leaves in the community.  He highlighted her dedication to visiting vulnerable children and her exceptional mobilisation skills.

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki expressed his condolences to Nkatha’s family and acknowledged her contributions to the community, especially her support for vulnerable individuals. The governor stressed the importance of unity among leaders in order to address the challenges facing the county and ensure that development projects are successfully implemented.

Maara MP Kareke Mbiuki, known for his dedication to educational initiatives and community development, spoke about the importance of unity in the region and the need for leaders to fulfill their promises to the people of Tharaka Nithi County.  He added that Tharaka Nithi is blessed with good leaders, citing the nomination of Kindiki as Deputy President, and urged all leaders to unite and work for the betterment of the county.
