Man sentenced to 4 years jail term for trafficking bhang

A middle-aged man was on Wednesday arraigned in a Kenol Court facing charges of trafficking bhang. Joseph Njuguna appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Sheila M. Nyaga was accused that on July 29 at Mitiini area, Kenol he was caught with 50 grams of bhang and 46 rolls of the drug.

According to the facts tabled by the prosecution, police officers who were on patrol acting on a tip off from members of the public who arrested the accused and upon conducting a search in his house found 50 grams of bhang and 46 rolls concealed in a black bag.

The accused pleaded guilty to the charges and asked the court for leniency noting that he will not repeat the offence. The court found him guilty and convicted him on his own plea of guilt.

He was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment.
