Man sentenced to 5 years jail term for trafficking bhang

A 28 year old man was on Tuesday arraigned in a Kenol Court facing charges of trafficking bhang. Boniface Njoroge appearing before Senior Resident Magistrate Sheila M Nyaga was accused that on July 22 at Maragua Township was arrested by police in possession of 41 sachets of bhang.

According to the facts tabled by the prosecution police officers who were on patrol acting on a tip off from members of the public arrested the accused and upon conducting a search, they found 41 sachets of bhang.

Further, the court heard that the accused was a repeat offender as he had a similar case at the court and that he was out on bond. The accused pleaded guilty to the charges and was convicted on his own plea of guilt.

He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.
